Two renowned disability poets, scholars and activists come together to read their work and discuss disability experiences and what we mean when we talk about disability culture.
Jennifer Bartlett is the author of four books of poetry and coeditor of Beauty is a Verb: The New Poetry of Disability. She is a co-founder of Zoeglossia, a non-profit to build community for poets with disabilities. Her new biography of Larry Eigner, Sustaining Air was released this year from the University of Alabama Press.
Petra Kuppers, a 2023 Guggenheim Fellow is a disability culture activist, a writer, a wheelchair dancer, and a community performance artist. Her third poetry collection is Gut Botany (Wayne Street University Press, 2021) She is also the author of numerous academic books and works of speculative fiction. She is the Anita Gonzalez Collegiate Professor of Performance Studies and Disability Culture at the University of Michigan.
